CourierConnect Celebrates World Post Day 2016

CourierConnect participated in commemorating the World Post Day in Rushinga in Mashonaland Central Province on 26 October 2016. The event was held under the theme Innovation, Integration and Inclusion.

World Post Day is celebrated each year on 9 October, the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 in the Swiss Capital, Bern. The purpose of World Post Day is to create awareness of the role of the postal sector in people’s and businesses’ everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries. The celebration encourages member countries to undertake programme activities aimed at generating a broader awareness of their Post’s role and activities among the public and media on a national scale.

The Director-General of the Universal Postal Union for 2016, Bishar Abdirahman Hussein in his speech read by UPU Regional Coodinator, Mrs Gladys Mutyavaviri said, “Our customers’ needs, however, are changing rapidly. Modern information and communications technologies have created a new type of consumer, for whom delivering at the doorstep is not enough; they want service when and where they need it. The demand is for more flexible and personalized services.
